Siiren strongly believe in fair trade & Personally import 100% of our products, Because we import our own products we can ensure our Ethical guidelines are always followed from start to finish. We Personally ensure our products are not produced in sweatshops and can guarantee no Child labour.

We annually visit each and every craftsman to ensure they are happy and to discuss new ideas. Most importantly we ensure our craftsman receive a very fair wage. This inturn creates a reliable and regular cashflow which we feel these very hardworking and talented people deserve. Because of the places we visit sourcing new goods we have seen some amazing sites and met some heart touching people on our journeys.With us buying directly from the people who actually produce these goods we have proven to be paying them in the region of 4 x more than the middleman would.

Here is an example - If we buy a wood carving directly from the wood carver at a cost of £100.00, all that money would go directly to him and his family to pay for his materials, clothing and food. A middleman might only pay him £25.00 for the same product pocketing him a whopping £75.00 for his trouble and leaving the craftsman very little to provide his family with. Is this fair ?

It costs us exactly the same money whether we use a middleman or not, so the only way we profit is in the fact that our money is going directly to the people that work so hard to produce these pieces. The conditions people work in are a lot better than most would expect which is great. We have first hand experience that the carvings and crafts are created in the craftsmen’s own gardens and open air workshops. Grandparents lend a hand by weaving intricate dreamcatchers whilst watching the world go by. We always leave it up to our suppliers as to how long our orders take. We get a call when its ready, no pressure! The children don’t loose out either as we always take sweets over to them. As you can imagine we get pounced on as soon as we arrive!

Siiren will only ever purchase handmade products from proven sustainable sources , all trees and wood must have a license before it can be cut. This is policed with a required unique stamp and serial number which acts as proof that the wood is under legal and enviromental control.
